My Resume...
But for a little bit more, here's:
THE TEN THINGS THAT MAKES ME A PERFECT CHOICE!
(AS A BROADCASTER...)
I love the news. I watch it nightly on TV, and listen to it on radio. My iPhone 4S (which I love) has enough news apps to keep me more than in the loop. I watch Twitter and Facebook like a hawk.
I know stuff. Want a story on Alberta politics? Maybe something about China? Or even something about Major League Soccer? You ask for it, I can research it and get something on it.
I can do more than just be a voice. I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty! Nothing comes to us, news is something we have to find.
I like to be a pro. I keep it professional when I work on my assignments, it's the best way to ensure that sources get a good impression. (There's exceptions to that...and when it comes to politicians, sometimes, well...)
I go to great lengths. I've been to Los Angeles to cover a soccer match for a blog, and at the same time used an iPhone to shoot a TV news package. And I paid for it out of my own pocket!
I'm not green. I've done a lot of things in my 29 years of life, and I've worked in the banking and customer service sector and know the various types of people out there.
...and I've got education to back that up. I'm a University of Calgary grad (Political Science '06), and soon to be an MRU grad as well.
I learn. I learn from my mistakes, and apply them to my career and my life. Teach me something, and I can retain it quickly.
I can speak a few languages. English, Cantonese, Mandarin and French. A little Korean, but enough to make sure I don't order pig blood jelly soup for breakfast. (It's a long story...)
It doesn't matter if I'm alone or not. I can work by myself, or with a team.
And most of all, I like to have a bit of fun. Come on, who doesn't? I like to cook, eat and enjoy soccer. And a few more things here and there!
